WHO IS MY MOTHER ?

Our Lord peformed His first sign, His first miracle at the request of His mother. A short time later, His mother, fearful of the exhaustion of her son preaching during the day and praying on the mountaintop at night, sent a message to Him.

When the messenger announced: “Your mother is here, “ He turned to the crowd and said: “Who is my mother? Who is she?” What would our mother say if we had to say that? “Who is my mother?” Would that not be an insult, a rebuke?
No, He is reminding her that in the Kingdom of Heaven there are no more ties of flesh and blood. The only bond that exist in the Kingdom of Heaven is the spiritual bond of obedience to the Father’s Will.

So that the seeming rebuke turns into the greatest of compliments. “He who does the Will of my Father in heaven, is My mother.” And who, ever obeyed the Will of the Father as closely as Mary? It is a great honour for us. Can you ever imagine it, being called the mother of Jesus, the mother of God ? Yes we can arrive that great honour if we do the Will of God.
