CAN'T COME TO SEE YOU, MUM

I dedicate this correspondence to all those who were ‘born of a mother’, to make them appreciate more the meaning of MOTHER. Treasure her, while she is still around. Pray for her if she has been called to the Lord.

Villa,“Spring”, StrawberryRoad, Valletta.

Dear Mum,

Am writing to inform you that I can’t come to visit you on Mother’s Day, because both myself and my wife, Mary have changed residence. We now occupy a spacious Villa. Both Raymond and Tanya, our children now have two rooms each; a bedroom and a study, a games room and a billiard room. In the top floor we have three extra bedrooms, besides the garage and the basement. That is why we have not come to visit you for quite a long time. We were too busy.

Tanya has brought in a stray cat and now this cat seems much happier, because everybody appreciates the company and love of others. Raymond is causing us some trouble, now that he has grown up. Children quickly forget all the sacrifices parents do for them. He does not appreciate our love for him.

Mum if you need anything do let us know. Don’t stay indoors, go out for short walks in the garden of the Old People’s Home. If you need anything let us know.

Your son,
Paul

REPLY

Old People’s Home
Ward 32,

Dear Lord,

Apologies for sending this letter to You, and not to my son, Paul. But, I prefer to address You, because like all mums, Lord, You have given your life, Your all, for others, without expecting anything back … except LOVE. As You well know, dear Lord, my Villa consists of three meters by two metres, an ordinary bed, a chair, a small table, a glass and Rosary Beads. I ask only one thing, the same room and its furnishing, in a place where I am surrounded by LOVE, even in a basement.
You know, Lord that even I, would appreciate the company and love , more than a stray cat does. As my son Paul said: “Children quickly forget all the sacrifices parents do for their children.” Children can’t understand and realise before they live such experiences themselves.

Paul now lives in Villa Spring…once I was Spring itself, I was a young mum, healthy, beautiful, full of energy, smart, my eyes were full of light, sparkle and love. I used to live a daily Spring with my beloved spouse and two young children… that was a dream of love.

I gave everything to my children, including my health, my strength and beauty…now, I am left with nothing. My gold has changed…not to silver but to greyish white. What have my children given me in return?... three meters by two metres, an ordinary bed, a chair, a small table, a glass and Rosary Beads.

I was once a Mum Bed no.79

May the Strength of God pilot us
May the Wisdom of God instruct us,
May the Hand of God protect us,
May the Word of God direct us,
Be always ours this day
...and for evermore.
St.Patrick

“Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading.”
Oswald Chambers

"I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved only by what I believe. The victory is mine! I have it NOW! I can see it through the eye of my faith!"

VEN. FULTON J. SHEEN (Quotes)

“Judge the Catholic Church not by those who barely live by its spirit, but by the example of those who live closest to it.”

“A religion that doesn’t interfere with the secular order will soon discover that the secular order will not refrain from interfering with it.”

“Not 100 in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is.”

“Tolerance applies only to persons, but never to principles. Intollerance applies only to principles, but never to persons.”

“I don’t want my life to be mine, I want it to be Christ’s. The more ‘ego’ there is, the less there is of Christ.”

“Obedience to Truth is obedience to Love.”

SAINT  John Paul II Quotes

The commandment you shall not kill even in its more positive aspects of respecting, loving, and promoting human life, is binding on every individual human being. ~Blessed John Paul II

Similarly, euthanasia and assisted suicide are never acceptable acts of mercy. They always gravely exploit the suffering and desperate, extinguishing life in the name of the “quality of life” itself. ~Blessed John Paul II

The sickness of a family member, friend or neighbor is a call to Christians to demonstrate true compassion, that gentle and persevering sharing in another’s pain. ~Blessed John Paul II

To humanity, which sometimes seems to be lost and dominated by the power of evil, selfishness and fear, the risen Lord gives the gift of His love which forgives, reconciles and reopens the soul to hope. ~Blessed John Paul II

While it is true that the taking of life not yet born or in it’s final stages is sometimes marked by a mistaken sense of altruism and human compassion it cannot be denied that such a culture of death, taken as a whole, betrays a completely individualistic concept of freedom, which ends up by becoming the freedom of “the strong” against the weak who have no choice but to submit.

The Gospel of life must be proclaimed and human life defended in all places and all times. ~Blessed John Paul II

And Christ, through His own salvific suffering, is very much present in every human suffering, and can act from within that suffering by the powers of His Spirit of truth, His consoling spirit. ~Blessed John Paul II

Peace is not just the absence of war. Like a cathedral, peace must be constructed patiently and with unshakable faith. ~Blessed John Paul II

Anything done for another is done for oneself. ~Blessed John Paul II

In the newborn child is realized the common good of the family. ~Blessed John Paul II

Do not be afraid to be saints. Follow Jesus Christ who is the source of freedom and light. Be open to the Lord so that He may lighten all your ways. ~Blessed John Paul II

The saints have always been the source and origin of renewal in the most difficult moments in the Church’s history. ~Blessed John Paul II
