MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO
"Lowly, and yet chosen."
This is the episcopal motto of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, elected by his fellow Cardinals and now known as Pope Francis.
Pope Francis is neither "conservative" nor "liberal," neither from the left nor from the right. He is Catholic.
This is the holy man who the Holy Spirit inspired the Cardinals to elect, and who we are called to pray for and to go forth with to continue the work of the New Evangelization.
The Pope has been chosen a long time ago, he has been chosen by God Himself, since eternity … this choice has been included as part of His Divine Plan. The Holy Spirit, intervened in this conclave to inspire the Cardinals gathered together to make a good and discernment and realise what God had planned since eternity.
Because of an infection as a teenager, Pope Francis has only one lung. We the laity must be his other lung, and help breathe new life into our Church!
Two days ago, as I was watching TV2000, waiting for the ‘white cloud’, a lady phoned from Assisi. She told the Presenter of the programme that she was praying to God that He might give us a Pope who will walk in the steps of St.Francis and to re-build His Church. We know the rest of the story. Now all this is History. After more than a thousand years a Pope has been chosen outside Europe, and he had to choose the name of Francis. I do not believe in coincidences, this is no luck or lottery. We know that religion as lived in Argentina, in all Latin America for that matter, is so different from the way we live Religion in Europe or in the USA.
God is speaking to us, He has a message for each and every one of us, for all of us through our new, beloved Shepherd, Pope Francis. A big ‘thank you’ to his parents and family, to all the people of Argentina. Let us unite in prayers with our earthly father to give praise and thanks to God.
God bless Pope Francis!
