Guidelines foR salvation
If when tempted to commit a mortal sin, you actually fall during
the trial, be sure that the mercy you have shown your neighbour was not
motivated by God's grace, but by your nature. For in the evil hour, God
saves the person who has a really merciful heart.
When you doubt the morality of a deed you are about to perform,
eliminate first the doubt before you actually act. If you act with a
practical doubt, you sin, for in fact you would be accepting that wickedness,
if that wickedness were actually there.
If you do not succeed in eliminating
the doubt regarding the
morality of a deed, then hold on to the safe side, that is, that which,
according to your conscience, does not contain any
evil. Know well
that one is guilty of evil inasmuch as one intends it.
Watch and guard yourself from all sorts of sin. Always hold
fast to what God wants. Whatever you want, be it good or bad,
or whatever you desire or approve, is considered as good as done in God's
sight.
God will not be pleased with you if you do not give him your whole
heart and keep for your own satisfaction even a petty trifle of it. If
you do this, Satan will be pleased with you, for he knows
well that through that
petty thing, he will be able to draw you away from God forever.
In anything you do, think of death, judgement, hell and heaven,
for the Holy Spirit, the essential Truth, assures you that consequently you
will never, ever commit any sin.
Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.
Know that the one who is jealous is Satan's follower, for Satan with his jealousy brought
death into the world. This is recorded in Holy Scripture. It is
terrifying to be in any way friendly with Satan.
Whatever you feel, whatever comes to your head, has no value in
itself and it does not call for any reward or punishment. Indeed, you may feel hatred or
pleasure, and evil thoughts may come to your mind, But you are not guilty of
any sin, except when you become aware of the wickedness of those actions and
consent to them.
Never tell a lie, for any reason whatsoever. Bear in mind
that Satan is a liar and the father of lies.Consequently, whoever tells lies is
not a child of God, but a child of Satan. God's children walk
along the way of truth
and of justice.
There is no surer sign of humility than that of obedience. Christ
humbled himself, took the form of a servant and was obedient unto death, even to death on the
cross. Peace of conscience cannot be found except in obedience.
